Luc Grethen was born on 1st December, 1964 in Luxembourg. There he studied composition, orchestration and
conducting at the conservatory in Luxembourg city, as well as oboe and English horn at the Strasbourg (France) and Mons (Belgium) conservatories. He also studied musicology at the “Université des
Sciences Humaines de Strasbourg” from 1983-1987, graduating with a master’s degree. Since 1990 he has been teaching history of music and music education at the conservatory of his hometown. He is
very active as a composer and writes many works for chamber formations, as well as orchestral and choral pieces.
Luc Grethen wurde am 1. Dezember 1964 in Luxemburg geboren und studierte Komposition, Orchestrierung und Dirigieren am Hauptstädtischen Konservatorium in Luxemburg, sowie Oboe und Englischhorn am Konservatorium in Straßburg und am Konservatorium in Mons (B). Weitere Studien in Musikwissenschaft an der „Université des Sciences Humaines de Strasbourg“ von 1983 bis 1987, wo er mit einem « Master » in Musikwissenschaft abschließt . Seit 1990 ist er Lehrbeauftragter für Musikgeschichte am Hauptstädtischen Konservatorium in Luxemburg und seit 1991 Professor für Musikerziehung. Er ist sehr aktiv als Komponist und schreibt viele Werke für Kammermusik, sowie Orchester – und Vokalwerke.

vocales.
